Camp Fraser Caretaker Job Description

The Camp Fraser Caretaker is a vital member of the Living Classrooms of the National Capital Region team, responsible for maintaining the Camp Fraser site for environmental education and community programs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain a regular presence at Camp Fraser, inspecting all buildings and facilities to ensure they are safe and well-maintained.
  • Implement best practices in trail maintenance, landscaping, and upkeep of common areas.
  • Manage and maintain the 75-acre campground, including the lodge, open-air classrooms, hiking trails, and other facilities.
  • Inspect buildings, facilities, and equipment weekly for repairs and supply restocks as needed.
  • Implement conservation and restoration projects as assigned by the Director of Camp Fraser and Facilities Manager.
Requirements:
  • Must be a mature, responsible, self-motivated, detail-oriented individual with handyman and basic maintenance engineering skills.
  • Ability to safely operate power tools, tractors, lawn equipment, chainsaws, and other equipment.
  • Ability to work effectively with other team members, contractors, volunteers, and visitors.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft suite.
  • Ability to maintain professional composure in a fast-paced environment.
Benefits:
  • Compensated for up to 20 hours of work per week at a rate of $15.87 per hour.
