Responsibilities:- Provide direct patient care to psychiatric patients, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, evaluation, and coordination of care.
- Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care to patients and their families.
- Develop and implement individualized plans of care that reflect the patient's condition, prioritize their needs, and provide for continuity of care.
- Implement interventions identified in the nursing and medical plan of care, prioritizing patient care interventions based on fluctuating patient and Psychiatric unit needs.
- Evaluate the patient's progress toward the attainment of clinical and educational outcomes, conducting systematic and ongoing patient reassessments and evaluations.
- Associate's Degree in Nursing required; BSN required within four years of hire.
- Licensed to practice professional nursing as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts or ability to receive reciprocity license prior to start.
- Current basic life support (BLS) certification; some units may require Advanced Cardiac Life support (ACLS) certification.
- Additional certifications may be required for certain practice areas.
- Knowledge of professional nursing principles, procedures, and techniques used in the care and treatment of patients in psychiatric settings.
- Knowledge of social, psychological, and physical factors of psychiatric disorders.
- Knowledge of psychotropic medications and their side effects.
- Knowledge of State and Federal regulations that apply to the care of patients in inpatient psychiatric settings.
- Knowledge of principles of crisis prevention and de-escalation.
