Job Overview

The Salvation Army is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Kitchen Manager to oversee the daily operations of our preschool kitchen. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth delivery of breakfast, lunch, and snack services to our young students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and prepare meals for preschool children, adhering to standardized recipes and food safety guidelines.
  • Manage inventory, ordering, and receiving of food and supplies, ensuring accurate records and timely deliveries.
  • Supervise volunteer groups, providing guidance and support to ensure proper kitchen procedures are followed.
  • Maintain accurate records, including daily temperature checks, recipes, and menu changes.
  • Prepare and serve meals/snacks according to the menu, using standardized recipes and ensuring proper food handling and storage.
  • Collaborate with the supervisor to plan and implement menus, ensuring compliance with regulations and guidelines.
  • Respond to concerns and issues raised by others, working directly with the supervisor to resolve any problems.
  • Ensure the kitchen and dining areas are clean and stocked, and that food is handled and stored according to guidelines.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent and two years of cooking experience required.
  • QFO (qualified food operator)/ServeSafe certification required.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work collaboratively with other personnel, service providers, and professionals.
  • Basic computer knowledge of Microsoft Office and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working with the population served preferred; sensitivity to cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of the population served.
  • Fluency in English language is required; Spanish speaking ability preferred.
