Key Responsibilities- Partner with engineering teams to identify and drive critical reliability issues in wearable devices.
- Develop and implement creative reliability tests on new hardware programs.
- Support failure analysis and advise the team on the best path forward.
- Research new technologies to understand unique failure mechanisms.
- Develop new reliability test procedures and specifications.
- Apply industry standards like JEDEC/ASTM/IEEE to real-world problems.
- Prepare concise and detailed test plans, analyze test reports, and present results to drive program-level decisions.
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in a related field or industry.
- Experience in driving reliability test activities on IC packages/PCBAs/electronics assemblies, including mechanical (drop, bend, etc.) and environmental testing.
- Understanding of Design of Experiments (DOE), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and Accelerated testing concepts.
- Proficient in statistical software such as Reliasoft, JMP, Minitab, or equivalent.
- Familiar with Failure analysis techniques (LIT, X-ray/CT, SEM/EDS, etc.) and the ability to use these FA methodologies to derive a root cause of failure.
- Excellent written, visual, and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and curiosity of how technologies work.
- PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in a related field or industry.
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $135,400 and $250,600, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
