Component Engineer

Component Engineer
Location: Foxboro, MA. Hybrid, 3 days onsite per week
Key Responsibilities:- Analyze daily change notices of end-of-life component parts
- Replace obsolete parts with new parts
- Aid supply-chain and manufacturing in obtaining new and critical parts
- Prepare Engineering Change Requests, Manufacturing Change Requests or Deviations to obtain old parts to support production
- Resolve technical problems
- Analyze part failure; request part failure analysis reports from vendors
- Support design engineers in finding, selecting and documenting new components
- Support design engineers in finding, selecting and replacing obsolete parts with new parts
- Generate wiring diagrams to back up and analyze component selection
- Review hardware drawings
- Write Calculating Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and MTBF's
- Execute verification tests
- Execute Document tests and generate CIA's (Change Impact Analysis) to explain change etc.
- Understand the hardware architecture of the products
- Company interface to component/parts suppliers and test and service suppliers
- Provide support to HW development work performed by outsource partners
- Develop innovative ideas to improve HW products and the HW development process
- Work in a diverse team environment, as well as independently
- B.S. in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum 8 years of component engineering
- Minimum 6 years of HW design experience in the following areas: industrial controls, aerospace, communications, or medical devices, etc.
- Excellent diagnostic, debug, and troubleshooting skills, using standard lab/bench equipment
- Experience in product development with knowledge of Design for Test, Design for Manufacturability, environmental, EMI/EMC, and qualification testing for new products
- Experience in formal HW development process
- Experience with working with off-shoring partners, outsource partners, or other third-party partners
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Self-starter, team player, multi-tasking with good time management skills and the ability to function across organizational boundaries
- Experience in design of high reliability, safety, redundant fail-safe products is a strong plus
- Experience with development using lean agile methodology
- Experience with industry standards (IEC 61508, IEEE 1012, Mil-Std, etc.)
