Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Job Description:

As a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator, you will play a vital role in protecting the environment and public health by ensuring that wastewater treatment plants operate efficiently and safely. Your duties will include operating process pumps, motors, blowers, and other equipment; taking samples of sewage and effluents; performing laboratory tests; and cleaning treatment plant structures and equipment.

Salary and Benefits:

This is a permanent full-time position with a salary range of $29.25-$26.59 hourly. You will also receive a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, and retirement plan contributions.

Requirements:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with one year of documented hands-on experience working on-site in a wastewater treatment facility and two years of experience in mechanical repair and maintenance of industrial mechanical equipment.
  • Possession of a valid Florida Driver's license and an active Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) Class A, Class B, or Class C Wastewater Operator's license are also mandatory.

Additional Information:

This role involves working at heights above/below ground level, in cold and hot temperatures, and in areas with dusty conditions. The successful candidate must be physically capable of wearing personal protective equipment and working alone in isolated areas.
