Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Preoperative PACU Nurse to join our team at Legent Health.

Salary:$80,000 - $110,000 per year

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for handling inbound pre-operative patients and ensuring they receive quality pre-operative screening for our surgical procedures. They will also provide post-anesthetic care to patients emerging from the haze of anesthesia.

Responsibilities

Pre-Admissions Testing (PAT) Duties:

  • Conduct initial physical assessments and interviews with patients to obtain their medical history.
  • Perform tests ordered by the surgeon, such as EKGs, and draw blood for lab work as required.
  • Provide guidance to patients on their pre-surgical process and answer any questions they may have.

Preoperative Responsibilities:

  • Manage patients' admission processes to the preoperative department.
  • Assess patients' health status in pre-op and ensure accuracy of identification wristbands.
  • Verify operative and informed consents are in order.
  • Determine the surgeon and procedure being carried out.
  • Take and record vital statistics of patients to ensure readiness for surgical procedure.
  • Initiate IVs and inform patients about the procedure and attending medical staff.

PACU Responsibilities:

  • Assess patients' condition after surgery has been performed.
  • Ensure all vitals are within normal range.
  • Log findings in patients' files.
  • Answer patients' questions and ensure they are kept comfortable.
  • Monitor patients for changes in condition and report any issues to the doctor.
