About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Child Psychiatric Nurse Specialist to join our team at Childrens Hospital Of The Kings Daughter.

Job Description

The ideal candidate will have experience in pediatric medical and psychiatric settings, with a strong background in crisis intervention techniques, conflict resolution, and interpersonal communication. They will be responsible for providing developmentally appropriate psychosocial and clinical care to patients, working closely with the healthcare team to ensure patient safety and well-being.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, provide, and monitor individualized psychiatric and medical nursing care following established policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Perform therapeutic nursing interventions as established by individualized plan of care for the preschool, school-age, or adolescent patient and his/her family.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with all members of the healthcare team.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to stay up-to-date on best practices and industry developments.
  • Demonstrate exceptional interpersonal communication skills, cultural sensitivity, and empathy when interacting with patients, families, and colleagues.

Requirements

  • A current Virginia state license as a Registered Nurse or Registered Nurse holding a valid Compact State license.
  • CPR Training required and/or must be obtained within 45 days of hire.
  • PALS preferred.
  • RN certification preferred.
  • An Associates in Nursing/Diploma in Nursing with applicable experience, however a BSN is preferred.
  • Experience in both pediatric medical and psychiatric settings preferred.

Working Conditions

The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced patient care environment with minimal exposure to environmental hazards. They may be exposed to communicable diseases and moderately adverse working conditions due to the need to perform certain patient care activities.

Estimated Salary Range: $65,000 - $90,000 per annum, based on experience and qualifications.
