The Vocational Trainer provides vocational training to adults with intellectual and physical disabilities in a sheltered workshop setting. He/she shares responsibilities with other vocational trainers for the daily supervision, care, and training of individuals attending the Vocational Training Center.
Responsibilities- Training and Supervision: Ensure implementation of all Service Plans and Objectives (SPOs) and train clients to complete job assignments.
- Documentation: Maintain a daily documentation of Consumer Pay Records, Incident/Injury Reports, and Behavior Therapy Programs.
- Client Care: Monitor all clients to ensure health and safety, providing intervention as needed, and document work completion by clients with Department of Labor standards.
- Personal Care: Assist clients in performance of personal care needs, ensuring their privacy and dignity.
- Food Service: Serve all meals, snacks, and beverages for described diet in a normalized and sanitary manner, implementing adaptive equipment and special procedures as needed.
- Confidentiality and Communication: Maintain confidentiality regarding all consumers' personal information and establish and maintain effective work relationships with individuals served, supervisors, co-workers, and visitors.
- Professionalism: Maintain a clean, courteous, and professional appearance at all times, especially when dealing with the public, and report to work in a timely fashion and maintain a good work attendance.
- Education: GED, High School Diploma, or ABLE Test (provided on-site) along with 3 letters of recommendation.
- Age and License: Must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid Texas Driver's License.
- Background Check: Must pass pre-employment drug screening.
- Physical Abilities: Must have the ability to lift, bend, stoop, and remain on feet.
- Driving Record: Must have a good driving record.
- Communication Skills: Must have the ability to read and understand written and verbal instructions.
