Job Summary

AVANCE-San Antonio, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Early Childhood Educator to join our team as a Child Development Specialist. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality care and education to infants and toddlers, promoting their cognitive, social, and emotional development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Child Development and Education
    • Develop and implement lesson plans that cater to the unique needs and abilities of each child.
    • Conduct developmental screenings to assess children's motor, language, social, cognitive, perceptual, and emotional skills.
    • Provide a safe and nurturing environment that encourages children to explore, learn, and grow.
  • Child Safety and Well-being
    • Ensure the physical and emotional safety of children at all times.
    • Develop and implement strategies to prevent accidents and injuries.
    • Respond promptly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Communication and Collaboration
    • Maintain open and transparent communication with parents and guardians.
    • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a cohesive and supportive team environment.
    • Participate in staff training and professional development opportunities.
  • Administrative Tasks
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of children's progress and development.
    • Prepare and submit reports as required.
    • Assist with administrative tasks as needed.
Requirements
  • Education
    • Infant and Toddler CDA (Child Development Associate Credential) is required.
    • Associate in Early Childhood Education or Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education or related field with 18 hours in Early Childhood Education is preferred.
  • Experience
    • At least six months of experience in a licensed childcare facility or in a public/private school or early childhood facility is preferred.
  • Skills
    • CPR and First Aid Training is required.
    • Computer literacy and proficiency in assigned databases, software, and systems is required.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills are essential.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required.
    • Spanish fluency is helpful but not required.
Working Conditions

The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. The position requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team. The candidate must be able to lift, bend, and move children as needed. The position also requires the ability to work in a variety of settings, including classrooms, playgrounds, and community centers.
