POSITION SUMMARY:

The Custodian plays a vital role in ensuring the cleanliness and safety of educational facilities. This position is responsible for a variety of custodial duties that contribute to a welcoming environment for students and staff.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Ensure the cleanliness and security of school facilities.
  • Execute a range of custodial tasks according to a predetermined schedule.
  • Assist with event preparations and manage emergency cleanups.
  • Perform basic maintenance tasks and minor repairs as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Regularly empty and sanitize waste receptacles.
  • Maintain cleanliness in restrooms, locker rooms, and shower areas.
  • Conduct cleaning of windows, walls, metal fixtures, and chalkboards.
  • Arrange furniture for various events and meetings.
  • Respond to emergency cleanup requests promptly.
  • Receive, organize, and distribute cleaning supplies.
  • Operate and monitor heating and cooling systems.
  • Ensure that all spaces are safe and orderly.

REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge:

  • Familiarity with basic cleaning techniques and procedures.
  • Understanding of maintenance principles.

Experience and Education:

  • Prior experience in facility maintenance and cleaning.
  • Knowledge of carpentry, grounds maintenance, and general upkeep.
  • Awareness of hazardous materials handling.
  • Completion of high school education or equivalent.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift, carry, and move various objects.
  • Manual dexterity and physical agility are essential.
  • Willingness to work in different weather conditions.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT CRITERIA:

  • Successful completion of a background check and fingerprint clearance.
  • Passing a physical assessment examination.
  • Completion of safety training.
  • Negative TB test result.
