The Salvation Army USA Western Territory is seeking a skilled Building Maintenance Lead to join our team. As a key member of our facilities management team, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing physical structures, equipment, and grounds.
Key Responsibilities- Work Order Management: In coordination with the Maintenance Supervisor, review, assign, and inspect the completion of work order assignments for maintenance technicians. Coach and encourage other maintenance technicians on their work to ensure excellence and fiscal responsibility.
- Recruitment and Training: Assist the Maintenance Supervisor with recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding/training new maintenance technicians as vacancies occur.
- Facilities Maintenance: Inspect, repair, and maintain all properties, including the Alhambra campus, and recommend outside contractors when needed.
- Equipment Maintenance: Schedule and perform regular maintenance and repairs on heating and air conditioning units, replace filters as scheduled, and maintain and repair mechanical equipment.
- Electrical and Motor Repairs: Perform electrical and motor repairs as needed.
- Grounds Maintenance: Assist in directing volunteers engaged in ground maintenance activities, such as mowing lawns, trimming hedges, removing weeds, and raking and disposing of leaves and refuse.
- Safety and Compliance: Interpret company policies to volunteer workers and enforce safety regulations.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Provide preventive vehicle maintenance to all Salvation Army vehicles.
- Education and Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two years of experience in building and property maintenance and/or equipment repair.
- Skills and Abilities: Ability to pay attention to detail, set priorities for projects, and maintain an inventory of supplies as needed.
- Driver's License: Must possess a valid California Class C Driver License and ability to drive a DOT-Regulated Salvation Army vehicle.
- Background Check: Must pass pre-employment and enroll in TSA random drug testing program as required by the Department of Transportation (DOT).
- Age Requirement: Must be 21 years or older.
- Physical Abilities: Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis.
- Lifting and Carrying: Ability to lift up to 50-70 lbs.
- Computer Skills: Ability to operate a computer and process written, visual, and/or verbal information.
