Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Explosives Safety Engineer to join our team at the Department of the Navy. As a key member of our Ordnance Assurance and Safety Office, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety of personnel and the efficiency of our programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate, plan, and execute technical direction or plans for explosive/ordnance safety requirements to resolve potential hazards and threats for the safety of personnel and efficiency of programs.
  • Provide policy, guidance, and technical direction to implement and sustain the elements of the Process Safety Management program.
  • Review facility and equipment drawings, piping and instrumentation diagrams, process flow diagrams, and other process information for compliance with explosive safety and process safety management requirements.
  • Design, modify, and/or construct workplaces, processes, or products to minimize or eliminate explosives safety hazards and threats.
  • Conduct process audits to ensure manufacturing equipment and processes comply with process safety management requirements.
Requirements
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
  • New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
Qualifications

Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements:

  • Successful completion of a professional engineering degree.
  • Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.
