Position Overview:
The City of Healdsburg is seeking a skilled Industrial Mechanic to join the Utilities Department. This role involves performing essential technical duties related to the upkeep, repair, and troubleshooting of machinery and equipment utilized in water and wastewater operations.
The Industrial Mechanic will work collaboratively with various roles, including Electricians, Instrumentation Technicians, and Utility Operators. Candidates should possess experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct technical tasks related to the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of equipment and machinery in wastewater treatment facilities, water production sites, and pumping stations.
2. Execute preventive and corrective maintenance on assigned machinery and equipment.
3. Utilize visual inspections and precision measuring tools to diagnose malfunctions in process equipment.
4. Repair, replace, or service various mechanical components, including pumps, engines, compressors, and hydraulic systems.
5. Perform complex preventive maintenance by inspecting, servicing, and cleaning equipment, including oil changes and adjustments.
6. Rebuild machinery by disassembling, cleaning, and repairing mechanical issues, ensuring proper functionality upon reassembly.
7. Maintain detailed records of daily activities and equipment service logs, utilizing Maintenance Management Software for documentation.
8. Read and update technical schematics and blueprints as necessary to assist in repairs and maintenance tasks.
9. Foster positive working relationships with colleagues and the public, adhering to principles of good customer service.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of maintenance and repair methods for mechanical equipment.
- Ability to perform troubleshooting and maintenance on wastewater and water treatment systems.
- Experience in operating and maintaining a variety of hand and power tools.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Experience and Training:
Any combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience:
Two years of relevant experience in mechanical maintenance within wastewater and water treatment facilities.
Training:
Completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by specialized training in mechanical equipment maintenance and repair.
Licenses and Certificates:
Possession of a valid California Class C Driver License is required. Additionally, candidates must obtain relevant mechanical technology certifications within specified timeframes after employment.
