This position primarily revolves around the initiation and execution of experimental programs aimed at determining material characteristics and advancing methodologies for material behavior analysis.

This includes everything from the characterization of standard material properties to the innovation of new modeling techniques.

Your Impact

- Formulating material testing programs and coordinating evaluations with both internal and external workshops and laboratories.

- Analyzing test outcomes and developing material property curves to support component design.

- Identifying existing and novel approaches to articulate material behavior.

- Defining and overseeing project timelines, milestones, and budgets.

- Assisting in urgent materials-related testing concepts and providing consultancy for component design.

- Conducting inspections of specimens and fracture surfaces within the laboratories.

Your Qualifications

- PhD or Master of Science in materials science, solid-state physics, or a related discipline; 5 to 8 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

- Profound understanding of materials science (e.g., alloy design, microstructural evolution, deformation mechanisms for metallic materials) & extensive knowledge of materials mechanics and failure mechanisms; significant expertise in steels and nickel-base alloys.

- Familiarity with gas turbine and steam turbine technologies, along with experience in programming (e.g., Python, R, VBA), data analysis, and basic FEA modeling.

- Proven experience in collaborating within multidisciplinary research networks or project consortia & strong project management capabilities.

- Excellent teamwork skills complemented by effective communication and interpersonal abilities to integrate into a multicultural and cross-organizational team; adept at managing multiple urgent tasks and prioritizing effectively.

- Proficiency in English; knowledge of German is an advantage.
