Job Overview

The Grounds Maintenance Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the pristine condition of the playing surface and surrounding areas. This position is responsible for the upkeep of the field at a premier sports venue, along with the maintenance of the adjacent grounds. As a key member of the team, you will provide direction and support to staff involved in field preparation tasks.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Remove markings from the field
  • Perform sweeping, raking, and grooming of the turf
  • Ensure appropriate infill levels are maintained
  • Regularly clean sidelines, drainage systems, and field equipment
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the equipment storage area
  • Apply necessary treatments during events
  • Clean and maintain field access points and related structures
  • Assist with end zone preparations and post-event cleanup
  • Support minor field repair tasks
  • Understand and implement best practices for synthetic turf maintenance
  • Manage the operation of field fans as required
  • Set up trash and recycling receptacles as needed
  • Conduct manual seam work in end zones
  • Remove litter and debris from the premises
  • Maintain cleanliness of walkways and outdoor areas
  • Oversee grounds maintenance activities
  • Perform snow removal duties
  • Operate various mechanical equipment
  • Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned

REQUIREMENTS: To succeed in this position, candidates must exhibit strong communication skills, leadership qualities, efficiency, and the ability to work collaboratively. Familiarity with synthetic turf maintenance and labor agreements is beneficial. Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, is essential.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A high school diploma or equivalent is mandatory, with a preference for candidates with experience in synthetic turf maintenance.

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:

  • Forklift, aerial lift, and Bobcat certifications are required
  • A valid driver's license for operating company vehicles
  • Commitment to ongoing skill enhancement through training
  • Knowledge of synthetic turf maintenance practices
  • Completion of relevant turf management courses
  • Familiarity with event operations

SUPERVISORY ROLE: This position does not involve direct supervision but requires leading team members from various departments under the direction of management.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: The role necessitates physical activity including lifting, standing, walking, and bending, along with the operation of maintenance machinery and occasional climbing.
