Salary
The hourly range for this role is $28.03 to $54.95 per hour, based on several factors, including local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. Job Description
This Diagnostic Imaging Specialist will be responsible for maintaining registration and active CMEs in ultrasound to provide excellent service. This includes creating a tranquil environment for patients to adhere to examination instructions. The primary responsibilities of this role include:
- Identifying anatomical orientation on all required images and ensuring proper file identification on all images.
- Demonstrating competency performing all diagnostic ultrasound procedures and the operation of all related equipment.
- Greeting patients, obtaining history, and entering information in the computer system.
- Scanning according to guidelines.
- Maintaining logs; processing paperwork for biopsies.
- Utilizing sterile techniques preventing contamination.
- Maintaining quality standards as it relates to HIPAA regulations.
- Responsible for all clinical aspects of ultrasonography suite; maintaining cleanliness of examination rooms.
- Assisting in completing the accreditation process for the American College of Radiology (ACR) every three years.
- Maintaining CPR certification.
- Observing patient vital signs during examination.
- Providing coverage as needed.
- Providing instruction/mentoring to new hires.
- Providing a positive patient experience; sharing information with patients, providing knowledge about the procedure; ensuring they are aware of follow-up steps and requirements.
- Maintaining communication with radiologists and other physicians, patients, and their families, and other persons.
- Consistently submitting images of diagnostic quality without recommendation of additional image acquisition; performs quality assurance on images and equipment; demonstrating competency in utilizing systems.
- Contributing to efficient out-patient operations, maximizing the productivity of assigned modality.
- Reviewing each examination for technical accuracy, presenting completed examinations to radiologist, and communicating pertinent data to person responsible for the care of patients following the procedure.
- Demonstrating teamwork; interacting in a positive manner with employees and contributing to a collaborative work environment.
- Meeting or exceeding deadlines, follows through, demonstrating accountability, flexibility, and adaptability.
- Enhancing professional growth and maintaining certifications, registration, and active CMEs through education programs, conferences, and workshops.
- Acquiring patients' chart date/requisition and reviewing both to determine correct set-up and learn of any specific medical problems, contraindications to the study, and verifying that the study being ordered correlates to the diagnostic needs.
- Educating patients regarding procedure, equipment, and exam to ensure understanding and safety.
