Job Summary

This role is dedicated to safeguarding the family structure by delivering thorough and family-centered interventions to ensure children can remain secure within their homes.
Key Responsibilities

  1. Assist in the formulation and management of protective strategies and in-home safety protocols. Ensure that risks are mitigated and issues of maltreatment are effectively addressed.
  2. Conduct home assessments to evaluate the potential for child abuse or neglect, strategize for child safety, and empower families to function independently of child protective services.
  3. Maintain regular face-to-face interactions with all assigned families as per the safety plan, at least on a weekly basis.
  4. Facilitate educational programs for parents to strengthen family units and minimize the risk of maltreatment.
  5. Encourage family engagement and monitor the application of newly acquired skills.
  6. Provide direct services, referrals, resources, and connect families with community support to ensure and sustain child safety.
  7. Assist in evaluating parental protective capabilities by gathering information from collateral sources and personal observations.
  8. Participate in initial and ongoing case review meetings.
  9. Request background investigations on cases involving protective strategies or in-home safety protocols.
  10. Coordinate and lead the Family Teaming process. Involve the family in interventions through formal, informal, and natural support systems.
  11. Ensure that children attend necessary medical appointments and assist with their transportation to scheduled or required visits.
  12. Ensure that all pertinent information is documented in the case file and electronic records.
  13. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in social work or a related field (such as child development, criminal justice, educational psychology, vocational rehabilitation, guidance and counseling, psychology, social welfare, or sociology).
  • At least one year of post-graduate experience working with high-risk youth and families.
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Demonstrate prompt and regular attendance.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within the agency, with partner agencies, other social service organizations, courts, schools, professionals, and the community.
  • Ability to work with and understand the needs of a diverse client population, including those facing challenges such as abuse/neglect, substance abuse, mental health issues, various disabilities, parenting skills, self-esteem, problem-solving skills, living conditions, interpersonal relationships, financial management, and self-care.
  • Ability to apply motivational interviewing techniques.
  • Ability to implement effective time and workload management strategies.
  • Strong understanding of child development principles.
  • Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Punctual and possesses a strong work ethic.
