Job Title: Senior Product Development Engineer

Steel Partners LLC is a leading manufacturer of fastening products and technologies for the commercial roofing and construction industries worldwide. We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Product Development Engineer to join our FastenMaster Division.

Job Summary

The Senior Product Development Engineer will be responsible for leading the development of new products and improving existing ones to meet the needs of professional contractors and building specifiers in the markets we serve. This role will work closely with the Product Development and Innovation team to identify and prioritize projects, and will be responsible for managing the entire product development process from ideation to launch.

Key Responsibilities
  • Promote safety as the top priority for all employees and customers
  • Work with the Project Manager and Product Manager to define project scope and objectives
  • Conduct site visits and gather feedback from customers and stakeholders to inform product development
  • Develop and implement intellectual property strategies to protect our innovations
  • Apply Six Sigma tools and methodologies to identify and prioritize key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Manage cross-functional teams to develop and launch new products
  • Ensure manufacturability and cost-effectiveness of new products
  • Develop and implement quality control processes to ensure high-quality products
  • Collaborate with the Manufacturing Engineering team to develop and implement manufacturing processes
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering
  • 2+ years of experience in product development, preferably in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of SolidWorks and other CAD software
  • Experience with Six Sigma tools and methodologies
  • Excellent communication and project management skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle safely and avoid distractions while driving
  • Ability to walk, stand, and lift up to 25 pounds
