About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced General Manager to oversee the daily operations of a major tourist railroad in Colorado. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the highest level of guest service, operational excellence, safety, and profitability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee all day-to-day operations of the railroad, ensuring smooth and efficient service for guests.
  • Lead a diverse team, including operations, guest services, and maintenance personnel, to achieve high performance and ensure a positive guest experience.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance customer satisfaction and increase ridership, while maintaining safety and operational standards.
  • Manage financial aspects of the operation, including budgeting, cost control, labor management, and profitability.
  • Ensure all safety protocols and regulations are strictly followed, with continuous improvement in safety measures.
  • Monitor and maintain train schedules, service quality, and facility upkeep, ensuring all areas operate at peak efficiency.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, professionalism, and growth among staff members.
  • Work closely with the maintenance team to ensure that rail equipment are kept in excellent working condition and any mechanical issues are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Identify opportunities for growth and improvement, including service offerings, customer experiences, and partnerships.
  • Represent the railroad in the community and with key stakeholders, maintaining strong public and industry relationships.
Requirements
  • 10+ years of experience in a leadership role, preferably in large-scale, national tourism, rail, hospitality, or transportation industries.
  • Strong background in operations management, particularly in a high-traffic, guest-facing environment.
  • Experience managing maintenance teams and ensuring compliance with safety standards.
  • Proven track record of driving profitability while maintaining excellent customer service.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and make critical decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physically fit, with the ability to navigate railway environments and engage in hands-on problem-solving when necessary.
