Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Electrical Engineer to join our team at Burns & McDonnell. As a key member of our project teams, you will be responsible for creating world-class designs for new projects, alterations, and redevelopments on a variety of projects including airports, commercial, government, military, and ports facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform electrical design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion.
  • Modify and review production drawings for various projects, including airports, commercial, government, military, and ports facilities.
  • Design electrical components for project needs and requirements set forth by project managers.
  • Apply strong knowledge of commonly used electrical engineering/design concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures within the electrical engineering services industry.
  • Research and compile project-related data as required by project managers.
  • Update drawings provided by senior engineers to verify corrections are made within multiple CAD/BIM-related software.
  • Compile information for client presentations, shop drawing review, and contract administration for the design of airports, commercial, government, military, and ports facilities.
  • Perform field inspections, measurements, or calculations for public and private clients.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related degree from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Or Bachelor of Science in Electrical or related Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
  • Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering may be substituted for 1 year experience.
  • Successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) exam strongly preferred.
  • 3 years of electrical engineering experience, consulting preferred.
  • Telecom/Electronic Security Systems (RCDD) background preferred.
  • Experience in AutoCAD, Revit, SKM (short circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies software), lighting calculation software, generator sizing software preferred.
