About the Role

Oceaneering is a global leader in the development and application of practical, cost-effective systems that meet our customers' challenges. We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Systems Engineer to join our team in the Oceaneering Aerospace and Defense Technologies (ADTECH) group.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop complex power and control systems for unique underwater robotic and electromechanical systems.
  • Lead and supervise small to medium teams of electrical engineers in pursuit of project objectives.
  • Generate proper designs and work to complete tasking with latitude to make decisions under minimal supervision.
  • Exercise excellent technical judgement, creativity, and initiative with attention to detail consistently throughout your work product.
  • Prepare and participate in regular design reviews.
  • Work closely with mechanical, software, and systems engineers to solve problems and architect a working system.
  • Supervise and mentor junior engineers or technicians as necessary.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science or advanced degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 10+ years practical technical experience in the creative engineering process.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a United States Government Department of Defense Security Clearance.
  • Must be a US citizen.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience selecting and integrating high-tech Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) equipment.
  • Good working knowledge of electrical and electronic components and wiring devices.
  • Experience designing and interfacing components of industrial quality embedded microprocessor systems.
  • Experience designing and integrating various data communications signaling.
  • Experience with DC power systems design and calculation of system power and energy requirements.
  • Good electrical drawing and drafting skills.
  • Proficiency in proper use and application of various standard electronic test equipment.
  • Proficiency with advanced Computer Aided Design (CAD), Simulation, and Analysis software packages.
  • Good written and oral communications skills.
Additional Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in the marine industry and associated technologies.
  • Working knowledge of applicable industry professional, technical, and military standards.
  • Good practical technician skills.
  • Experience with fiber-optics, Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design, and brushless motor drives.
  • Experience designing, analyzing, and tuning closed-loop feedback control systems.
  • Experience with low-medium voltage power systems and machine safety systems.
  • Ability and flexibility to travel on occasion.
