The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking a skilled Employment Specialist to assist newly arrived refugees and other qualified immigrants in attaining self-sufficiency through employment. This role involves guiding clients through employment preparation, coordinating job placements, and providing career advancement services.
Key Responsibilities- Client Support: Conduct intake, assessment, and program orientation for eligible clients. Develop comprehensive employment plans and budget strategies for each employable adult.
- Employer Partnerships: Develop and cultivate relationships with area employers and staffing agencies to identify suitable employment opportunities for clients.
- Post-Placement Support: Assist clients and employers with post-placement issues and continuing employment needs.
- Client Performance Monitoring: Track client job performance, wage levels, and related metrics.
- Documentation and Reporting: Detail client interactions and input client information in database(s) as required.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in social work or a related field of study is preferred.
- Work Experience: Relevant professional experience in workforce development is required, with a minimum of 2 years of experience strongly preferred.
- Skills and Competencies: Strong relationship-building, diplomacy, and networking skills; ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
This role involves a combination of standard office environment, remote work, and 'field' time within the service delivery area. Occasional weekend and/or evening work may be required.
