About the Program:

The Clean Energy Program aims to drive Michigan's transition towards a sustainable future. This initiative focuses on enhancing community resilience and fostering leadership in environmental stewardship. Members will engage with various stakeholders to promote the goals of achieving a carbon-neutral economy and supporting local economic growth through sustainable practices.

Role and Responsibilities:
  • Research and identify federal funding opportunities related to clean energy and sustainability for local businesses, and assist in promoting these opportunities to the community.
  • Collaborate with major utility companies to assess their clean energy supply chain requirements and connect them with local suppliers, particularly those transitioning from traditional energy sources.
  • Map and catalog clean energy and climate technology firms within Michigan, working with local partners to create comprehensive asset inventories.
  • Engage with Michigan-based organizations to facilitate the adoption of innovative clean energy solutions, including organizing events to showcase local advancements.
  • Attract national and international clean energy firms to Michigan through strategic outreach and participation in relevant conferences.
  • Empower local communities by organizing educational programs and meetings to disseminate information about available climate resources.
  • Participate in member development activities, including training sessions and collaborative workshops.
  • Conduct community input sessions to gather feedback and further the objectives of the Clean Energy Program.
Evaluation and Reporting:
  • Complete regular performance evaluations and adhere to reporting requirements, including timesheets and narrative reports.
Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess a strong interest in environmental issues, community engagement, and effective communication. Candidates should demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Google Applications is essential.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must reside in Michigan.
  • Ability to travel for in-person meetings and events.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency is required.
  • Pass necessary background checks as part of the application process.
Compensation:

Members will receive a living allowance of $35,200, distributed bi-weekly. Additional benefits include student loan forbearance for qualified loans, health care assistance, and opportunities for professional development. Upon successful completion of service, an education award will be provided.
