Job Overview:

The Eye Specialist is a key member of our Ophthalmology department, working closely with the multi-disciplinary team to provide specialized ophthalmic expertise. The primary role involves evaluating patients for ocular conditions related to military service, requiring the ability to properly assess conditions and provide clear written evaluation notes via required forms.

Responsibilities:
  • Medical degree in Ophthalmology and licensure to practice in the US, home country, or country of practice. Licensed optometrist.
  • Completion of an internship and residency in ophthalmology.
  • Experience working with adult patients.
  • Expertise in eye anatomy, functions, and diseases.
  • Ability to provide follow-up care as needed.
  • Excellent IT skills, including electronic medical records systems.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Coping with stressful situations.
  • Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Results-oriented, meeting project deliverables.
  • Cultural sensitivity and awareness when working with foreign national patients.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide routine care, such as vision testing and evaluating visual conditions.
  • Offer ophthalmic consultation to other medical professionals.
  • Refer patients for further evaluation if necessary.
  • Diagnose ocular diseases and injuries.
  • Liaise with other medical staff for continuity of care.
  • Educate patients about eye conditions and treatment plans.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records.
  • Contribute to clinical reporting for the Project Medical Director.
  • Support staff development through clinical mentoring.
  • Ensure adherence to clinical guidelines and SOPs.
  • Participate in the clinical excellence framework under the Project Medical Director's guidance.
  • Collaborate with external agencies for continuity of care and professional referrals/patient handovers.

Estimated Salary Range: $200-$761 per day (dependent on patient volume), with additional compensation for exams performed. Base salary may vary based on factors such as background, experience, skills, internal equity, and market data.
