This position involves the development and management of a holistic counseling program tailored for secondary students, delivering the counseling curriculum across various domains, and collaborating with educational staff and community resources to meet students' developmental needs.
- Designs and oversees a comprehensive counseling program for secondary students.
- Implements the counseling curriculum for all students, emphasizing Academic, Career, and Personal/Social Development.
- Creates, executes, assesses, and refines a structured, developmentally appropriate program in line with district counseling standards.
- Integrates counseling curriculum activities into classroom instruction.
- Provides counseling to secondary students to enhance self-awareness and cultivate positive social and academic skills.
- Develops, implements, and assesses student planning focused on academic goal setting and transition strategies.
- Offers individual and group counseling to students with specific concerns and needs.
- Establishes a referral and follow-up process for external counseling services.
- Advocates for equitable access to programs and services for all students.
- Coordinates parent engagement initiatives and participates in school governance.
- Complies with ethical standards of the counseling profession and engages in district assessment programs.
- Collects and analyzes evaluative data to ensure the effectiveness of the counseling program.
- Performs additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, candidates must possess a Master's Degree in counseling or a related discipline. A valid Oklahoma Teaching Certification in Secondary Education is mandatory. Strong communication skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships are essential.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
This position requires the ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods, manual dexterity for computer tasks, and visual and auditory capabilities. Physical agility is necessary for various responsibilities, including lifting.
