Job Summary

The Head Cashier is a key member of the retail operations team at Westlake Hardware, responsible for ensuring seamless customer transactions and providing exceptional customer service. This role requires strong communication and leadership skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Service
    • Provide a positive and welcoming experience for customers, ensuring their needs are met and exceeded.
    • Respond promptly and professionally to customer inquiries and concerns.
    • Ensure all customer interactions are respectful and courteous.
  • Register Operations
    • Process transactions accurately and efficiently, handling cash, credit, and other payment methods.
    • Balance register drawers and reconcile discrepancies.
    • Assist with register and computer issues, ensuring minimal downtime.
  • Cash Room Operations
    • Verify cashier-balancing procedures and deposit procedures are followed.
    • Assist with preparing deposits, long/short recaps, and sales audits.
    • Verify weekend vault counts and randomly verify vault.
  • Office Operations
    • Provide administrative support to the Assistant Manager-Operations, including receiving, invoices, purchase orders, and inventory adjustments.
  • Audit
    • Assist with quarterly audit checklist and observe cashiers for proper phone etiquette and customer service skills.
  • Front End Appearance and Upkeep
    • Maintain a clean and organized front end, including impulse counters and shopping carts.
    • Assist with decorating the front end and ensuring fresh ads are stocked.
  • Leadership
    • Communicate merchandising, cost control, and sales ideas to the General Manager.
    • Participate in store and cashier meetings.
    • Assist with training and development of new cashiers.

    Requirements
    • Education
      • High School or GED equivalent.
    • Experience
      • Experience in retail and/or office management preferred.
      • Cashier experience preferred.
      • Customer service experience preferred.
    • Skills
      • Standing, walking, lifting (up to 25lbs), and climbing.
      • Some weekend work availability.
