This position involves providing expert radiation physics support for the treatment of patients with cancer and other conditions requiring radiation therapy. The role encompasses clinical duties in radiation oncology physics and dosimetry, including:

  • Establishing and implementing quality control protocols for therapy equipment while maintaining comprehensive records of all routine calibrations.
  • Coordinating and facilitating the servicing and repair of medical physics equipment, including radiation therapy linear accelerators and simulators.

Incentives: A sign-on bonus of $15,000 is available for qualified candidates.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Education: A Master's degree in medical physics, radiological physics, or a related discipline is required. A Ph.D. in the same fields is preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of 2 years of clinical medical physics experience is necessary, including documented involvement in a clinical CT environment with at least 10 CT performance evaluations under the supervision of a board-certified medical physicist.
  • Certifications: Candidates must be board eligible in therapeutic radiological physics by the American Board of Radiology or the American Board of Medical Physics. Certification in therapeutic radiological physics is preferred.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of presenting information clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on treatment calculations and research development.

  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information responsibly.
  • Willingness to travel between facilities as required.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Engage in patient treatment planning and review performance improvement records.
  • Assist in the preparation of specialized procedures, including radioactive implants and advanced radiation therapies.
  • Verify prescribed doses through thorough quality assurance checks of calculations and treatment plans.
  • Participate in quality assurance programs for radiation-producing machines, conducting necessary measurements and calibrations.
  • Perform patient-specific dose measurements for treatment verification.
  • Collaborate with dosimetrists, therapists, and other staff members.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to maintain clinical knowledge and technical skills.
  • Adapt communication and behavior to meet the needs of diverse patient populations.
  • Fulfill additional related duties as required.
