Job Overview

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist healthcare providers in patient examination areas.
  • Guide patients to examination rooms, conduct interviews, and record vital signs such as height, weight, and blood pressure in the electronic medical records (EMR) system.
  • Provide patients with instructions as directed by healthcare professionals.
  • Educate patients and their families regarding diagnostic procedures and both pre-operative and post-operative care.
  • Ensure that all relevant reports, laboratory results, and patient information are accurately filed in medical records.
  • Maintain exam rooms with necessary medical supplies and prepare instruments for sterilization as needed.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by healthcare providers or administrative staff.
  • Welcome, screen, schedule, and direct patients efficiently.
  • Handle correspondence, manage phone calls, take messages, and relay information to the appropriate personnel.
  • Verify and update patient information while providing essential support services.
  • Request, locate, and manage patient medical records.
  • Coordinate the scheduling of surgeries and procedures with local healthcare facilities.
  • Prepare patient charts for clinical days.
  • Organize patient appointments and procedures in accordance with established protocols.
  • Uphold patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Assist in orthopedic office procedures under the supervision of healthcare providers.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Healthcare certification or license is preferred.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Proficient in various computer applications.
  • Exceptional customer service and telephone etiquette.
  • Ability to maintain an organized patient flow.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Capability to build and sustain effective working relationships with clinical staff.
  • Strong organizational skills, including time management and multitasking abilities.
  • Problem-solving skills and accountability in a clinical setting.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective in emergency situations.
  • Physical capability to perform varied activities, including standing, walking, reaching, bending, and lifting.
  • Must be able to handle and lift patients, demonstrating manual dexterity and coordination.
  • Occasional lifting of files up to 50 pounds may be required.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
