Job Title: Care Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Care Technician to join our team at Riverside Healthcare. As a Care Technician, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our patients and their families.

Job Summary:

The Care Technician will be responsible for assessing patient vital signs, administering injections, assisting physicians with procedures, preparing for procedures, answering telephones, calling in medical prescriptions, and scheduling appointments. Additionally, the Care Technician will promote teamwork among coworkers and adhere to patient satisfaction principles.

Responsibilities:
  • Administer subcutaneous injections as requested by physicians
  • Answer telephones properly with a positive attitude and take accurate messages
  • Assist physicians and/or nurses with procedures
  • Clean exam rooms with proper wipes and appropriate wet time guidelines
  • Collect and document clinical data accurately and within guidelines of regulatory agencies, health maintenance, and other quality measures
  • Follow up with lab work, referrals, consults, and other testing
  • Greet patients timely and courteously and escort them to the exam room
  • Perform and maintain all POCT competencies
  • Perform pulmonary function tests, electrocardiograms, pulse oximetry, nebulizer treatments as instructed by physicians
  • Perform venipunctures and non-blood specimen collection
  • Provide patients with follow-up of lab results as directed by physicians
  • Scan patient test results, records, and other paperwork timely and accurately in the correct folders
  • Schedule patient referral appointments and orders tests
  • Take accurate patient vital signs
  • Collect all required patient information during rooming process in all applicable EMRs
  • Accurately reconcile patients' immunization records in EMR (including ICARE records)
  • Appropriately obtain and handle specimens, including labeling, form completion, transport to laboratories, and log maintenance
  • Perform quality controls for waived testing
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or its equivalent required
  • Medical terminology required
  • Insurance and authorization process knowledge helpful
  • Prior experience in healthcare/physician office preferred
  • Knowledge of and experience with computers required
  • 2-3 year experience in customer service/receptionist
  • Must be able to type 35WPM
  • Medical Assistant certification preferred
