Position Summary

The Rec Connection Counselor plays a crucial role in overseeing youth participating in the before and after school programs. This position involves leading, organizing, and managing daily recreational and educational activities for children.


Required Qualifications

Applicants must be at least 16 years old and possess prior experience working with children aged 5-10. Certification in CPR, First Aid, and AED is mandatory; if not currently certified, the candidate must obtain certification.


Key Responsibilities

Essential Duties Include:

  • Engaging directly with children to facilitate group and individual activities.
  • Assisting in the organization of daily programming.
  • Ensuring the safety and well-being of all participants.
  • Supporting Day Off Programs as required.
  • Communicating any concerns regarding the children to the Site Coordinator.
  • Helping the Site Coordinator maintain daily attendance records for program participants.
  • Being available for Day Off Programs, early release days, and half days of school.
  • Ensuring the secure release of each participant by verifying emergency contact information and identification.
  • Fostering positive interactions with fellow Rec Connection staff, parents, and park district personnel.
  • Participating in all Rec Connection staff meetings.
  • Complying with the rules and policies of the Mundelein Park District and the Rec Connection program.
  • Performing additional related duties as assigned.
