Job Title: Assistant Civil Engineer

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a highly skilled Assistant Civil Engineer to join our Transmission and Distribution Group. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing technical leadership and expertise in underground transmission design.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to design teams on projects ranging from 69kV to 500kV
  • Mentor and develop team members to enhance their skills and knowledge
  • Independently execute design work with engineering judgment and expertise
  • Perform quality reviews and identify areas for improvement
  • Communicate changes to project scope to engineering lead and project manager
  • Provide input and adhere to project schedules and budgets
  • Identify and communicate technical risks associated with projects
  • Develop and implement processes and tools to increase efficiency across the team and department
  • Create and deliver training courses to the project team and department
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited program
  • Basic knowledge of standard civil engineering techniques, principles, and procedures
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and civil analysis programs
  • Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to work in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Engineers in Training (EIT) Certification
  • Minimum of a 3.0 GPA
  • Involvement in campus or community activities
