We are seeking a highly qualified English instructor to join our faculty team at Hagerstown Community College. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching English courses, contributing to curriculum development, and providing support to adjunct faculty.
Key Responsibilities- Teaching: Teach 15 credits in the fall and spring terms, with the possibility of overload teaching with approval.
- Assessment: Assess learning outcomes at the course, program, general education, and institutional levels.
- Student Advisement: Advise students on courses, programs, and career/transfer objectives.
- Student Advocacy: Commit to student learning and success, and be available to help students as needed.
- Curriculum Development: Develop and update course content, and keep up-to-date with changing technology.
- Shared Governance: Participate in departmental, divisional, and institutional-wide activities.
- Professional Development: Maintain an approved professional development plan that supports the college's strategic goals.
- College Service: Serve the college in activities addressing departmental responsibilities, community outreach, and student and campus life activities.
- Community Service: Serve the college in voluntary community service activities that positively reflect the college's image.
- Teaching Mentorship: Guide and support adjunct faculty to meet curricular and course expectations.
- Education: Master's degree in a discipline within English.
- Experience: Recent teaching experience at the undergraduate/community college level is preferred.
- Skills: Strong organizational, advising, and counseling skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, staff, and administrators.
