Job Description

Position Overview

The Plant Operations Technician is tasked with managing equipment functionality and executing maintenance and cleaning duties essential for the upkeep of plant facilities and surrounding areas. This role also involves delivering exceptional service and support for the company’s infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct maintenance, operate machinery, and perform cleaning tasks to ensure the plant, buildings, and grounds are well-maintained.
  • Support the batch plant operator at the ready-mix facility.
  • Manage plant processing machinery, ensuring product quality and production efficiency; promptly report any issues to the supervisor.
  • Carry out preventative maintenance on plant equipment; perform repairs as directed by management.
  • Execute daily inspections of machinery and grounds to maintain a safe working environment; report any hazards to the supervisor.
  • Adhere to all safety, compliance, and environmental regulations in accordance with company policies.
  • Operate processing equipment following company standards for quality and output; monitor for spills and mechanical failures, reporting them to site management.
  • Clean areas around operating equipment using hand tools and small machinery.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance tasks efficiently; assist with significant repairs and breakdowns as necessary, prioritizing work effectively.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to less experienced staff on complex tasks; may train new hires.
  • Complete other assigned duties as required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong mechanical skills and proficiency with hand and power tools.
  • Familiarity with company procedures and operations.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to prioritize workload effectively.
  • Valid driver's license.

  • Frequent sitting, climbing, and using hands to operate equipment.
  • Able to stand, walk, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, bend, talk, and hear.
  • Capable of using hands and fingers to manipulate objects or controls and reach overhead.
  • Must possess the strength, mobility, agility, and balance to navigate ladders and equipment safely.
  • Ability to exert up to 10-20 lbs consistently, with the capacity to handle 25-50 lbs frequently.
  • Vision capabilities (with correction) include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Willingness to work in various weather conditions.
