Position Overview:
We are looking for an experienced and dedicated Lead Quality Technician to oversee our quality assurance processes. This role is vital in guaranteeing the excellence and safety of our products through comprehensive testing, inspection, and adherence to established protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of quality technicians, ensuring they execute quality control procedures accurately and efficiently.
- Conduct thorough inspections of raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods to verify compliance with quality standards.
- Perform a variety of quality assessments, including physical, chemical, and sensory evaluations, using appropriate tools and methodologies.
- Identify and analyze any deviations from quality standards, documenting findings and implementing necessary corrective measures.
- Work collaboratively with production and maintenance teams to resolve quality issues and enhance product quality and food safety.
- Maintain precise records of quality testing results, inspection outcomes, and corrective actions taken, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.
- Assist in the formulation and execution of quality assurance protocols, training programs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Engage in internal and external audits, providing support and facilitating corrective actions to address any audit findings.
- Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, including production, R&D, and management, to align on quality objectives.
- Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements concerning food safety and quality assurance, integrating new knowledge into quality management systems.
- Act as the primary contact for Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) activities, including the development and maintenance of HACCP plans.
- Must hold certification as a Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) and oversee the development and implementation of our food safety plan in accordance with FSMA regulations.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in quality assurance or quality control, ideally within a food manufacturing context. Strong grasp of food safety principles, quality management systems, and regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, GMP, HACCP). Proven leadership capabilities with a focus on coaching and developing team members. Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data effectively. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with quality management software systems is advantageous. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across functions and drive positive change. Flexibility to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to shifting priorities. Demonstrated problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving quality issues. Willingness to work flexible hours and weekends as necessary to support production schedules and quality initiatives.
