Job Title: Psychologist I

Join the State of Colorado as a Psychologist I and contribute to the delivery of high-quality human and health services that improve the safety, independence, and well-being of the people of Colorado.

About the Role

This position is responsible for conducting forensic evaluations, including competency to proceed evaluations, and providing expert testimony in court. The successful candidate will work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, making critical decisions to ensure a high level of accountability for patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct forensic evaluations, including competency to proceed evaluations, and provide expert testimony in court.
  • Develop and deliver expert opinions regarding competency, restoration, and sanity/mental condition.
  • Attend annual and ongoing competency training to stay informed of current trends and research in the field of forensic psychology.
  • Present and provide feedback to peers during case presentations for continued growth and development.
  • Perform tasks or undertake special assignments or projects deemed necessary by the Office of Civil and Forensic Mental Health.
Requirements
  • Current, valid licensure as a Psychologist from the Colorado State Board of Psychologist Examiners.
  • One (1) year of experience as a licensed psychologist or permitted psychologist candidate.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in the area of forensic evaluations.
  • Experience in conducting and writing evaluations of competency to proceed.
  • Ability to work independently with little or no direction.
  • Clear and effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to use independent judgment to accomplish tasks to meet deadlines.
Working Conditions

This position may require extensive travel between offices, hospitals, and detention facilities. The successful candidate must possess a valid, unrestricted U.S. Driver's License and be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
