Job Overview

Objective:

Under minimal supervision, utilizes assembly guides to construct components for custom build orders and engages in a diverse range of mechanical assembly tasks on prototype models.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute alignments and GIGs during the final assembly phase.
  • Access work instructions from the Build Book software to gather all necessary components for the scheduled assembly task.
  • Interpret engineering schematics, bills of materials, and requisition parts from the Parts Department as needed.
  • Organize truck specifications according to engineering blueprints on a project-by-project basis.
  • Conduct the final assembly of all units, which includes hoods, electrical systems, lighting, and decals according to customer requirements.
  • Connect hydraulic lines and fill them with oil in preparation for necessary testing.
  • Prepare trucks for sub-frame assembly by disassembling, measuring, repositioning components, installing parts, and reassembling the unit in accordance with established procedures.
  • Test assembled components or products to verify proper functionality and quality standards.
  • Adhere to workplace health and safety regulations, safe work practices, and procedures.
  • Maintain tools and the work area in optimal condition.
  • May perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Physical Requirements:

  • Engage in repetitive tasks while navigating around, under, and over equipment on the production floor for 95% of the time.
  • Work outdoors in various weather conditions for 5% of the time.

Education/Skills/Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Formal training beyond high school (certification or associate degree in automotive repair) is preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of mechanical experience is necessary.
  • Prior experience with heavy mechanical machinery is preferred.
  • Understanding of hydraulic, electrical, gas, and diesel systems is essential.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
  • Capability to read blueprints, hydraulic, and electrical schematics.
  • Familiarity with computers for accessing work instructions, tracking labor, and performing other necessary tasks.
