Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Anesthesia Aide to join our team at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center. As an Anesthesia Aide, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our surgical services department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and maintain equipment and supplies for surgical cases requiring anesthesia.
  • Assist in the care of the anesthesia environment and equipment to ensure patient and staff safety.
  • Assemble and clean equipment as appropriate to procedure and age of patient.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions and unusual incidents to the director and/or the medical director, or anesthesia provider in the room, and call Bio Med.
  • Order and restock expended supplies on a STAT and routine basis.
  • Perform routine clerical duties.
  • Assist anesthesia providers in the performance of delegated anesthesia-related functions.
  • Input/verify patient charges daily.
  • Serve as steward of hospital resources.
  • Demonstrate customer service concepts by anticipating the equipment and materials needs of the anesthesia providers.
  • Serve or support process improvement teams, which influence customer satisfaction, clinical outcomes, and financial stability.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Successful completion of formal Nurse Aid course/training verified through transcript or original program certificate of completion, required.
  • Currently enrolled in an A.D.N., B.S.N., program with successful completion of first semester of A.D.N. program, OR first year completion of nursing courses in BSN OR graduate of an A.D.N., Diploma, BSN or LPN program.
  • Completion of aide certification or equivalent.
