Job Description Summary

The Department of Humanities, Communications, and Languages at Santa Fe College is seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Assistant Professor of Speech to join our team. As a key member of our faculty, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality instruction in speech courses, contributing to the college's General Education curriculum, and helping students acquire valuable critical thinking and communication skills.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Develop, prepare, and teach a variety of speech coursework, including didactic, laboratory, and classroom settings.
  • Support and promote the college and departmental missions centered on excellence in teaching and learning through quality instruction, curriculum enhancement, and timely service.
  • Collaborate with the Director, faculty, and peers to evaluate, revise, and develop curriculum that cultivates the mastery of course content.
  • Demonstrate technological literacy and innovation in the delivery of instruction.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a cohesive academic team.
  • Assist with the implementation of college policies, objectives, and functions in accordance with the Santa Fe College philosophy, mission, strategic initiatives, and procedures.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and collegewide committees as needed.
  • Provide students with frequent, timely assessment and clear feedback regarding academic performance.
  • Appropriately document student progress and maintain records including attendance, grading, and student learning outcomes.
  • Develop methods that fairly and accurately assess students' progress in achieving the stated learning outcomes/objectives.
  • Maintain appropriate office hours proportionate to the instructional assignment.
  • Strictly honor the privacy and security of student records and other sensitive information according to appropriate state, federal, and college regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Comply with all published College Rules, procedures, guidelines, and laws/regulations governing public employees, including but not limited to those related to document retention and destruction, FERPA, and confidentiality.
  • Provide service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible, and professional engagement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

A master's degree in or a master's degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in any combination of academic majors within the broad field of communication studies, such as Speech, Communications, Mass Communications, Multicultural Communications, and more.

A criminal background check will be conducted.
