Position Overview - LPN Portage Cardiology

  • Deliver age-appropriate nursing care to patients and their families, utilizing the nursing process to promote optimal health outcomes.
  • Adhere to the professional standards set forth by the Ohio Board of Nursing.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient care.
  • Provide relationship-centered nursing care that enhances patient experiences.
  • Exhibit technical proficiency in nursing practices to ensure safety and positive health results.
  • Engage in effective communication and collaboration to enhance patient care and operational efficiency.
  • Commit to personal development and contribute to the advancement of nursing practice.
  • Demonstrate leadership qualities that drive superior clinical and operational results.

Additional Duties

  • Perform other assigned responsibilities as necessary.
  • Comply with all institutional policies and standards.
  • Refer to departmental documentation for specific duties during orientation.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of Protected Health Information (PHI) as per regulations and institutional policies.

Educational Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited practical nursing program.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Thorough understanding of the LPN scope of practice as defined by the Ohio Board of Nursing.
  • Proficient in using various medical equipment to address patient needs and administer prescribed therapies.
  • For Level II: Maintain 18 Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) credits annually, including specific requirements in clinical specialty and leadership.
  • For Level II: Participate in peer reviews and committee involvement, providing evidence of professional development.

Licensure and Certifications

  • Valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in Ohio or Multi-State Compact License upon hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent standing, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of weights up to 50 lbs.
  • Occasional climbing and balancing.
  • Regular stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching.
  • Constant communication and coordination skills required.
