Role Summary

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in Cardiology is responsible for delivering safe and effective nursing care tailored to the specific needs of patients and their families. Utilizing the nursing process, the LPN assists patients in achieving and maintaining optimal health.

Additional Duties

  • Ensures compliance with regulations regarding the secure handling of Protected Health Information (PHI).

Educational Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited practical nursing program.

Skills and Competencies

  • Understanding of the LPN scope of practice as defined by the Ohio Board of Nursing (required proficiency).
  • Ability to utilize various technical equipment to meet patient needs and deliver prescribed therapies (e.g., stethoscopes, thermometers, sphygmomanometers, electronic monitoring devices) (required proficiency).
  • For Level II: Completion of 18 Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) credits annually, including 3 in clinical specialty and at least 5 in leadership.
  • For Level II: Participation in 3 peer reviews and committee involvement, demonstrating evidence of 5 criteria.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in Ohio and/or Multi-State Compact License upon hire (required).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire (required).

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent standing, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling (up to 50 lbs).
  • Occasional climbing and balancing.
  • Frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching.
  • Constant talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
  • Consistent eye/hand/foot coordination.
