About the Role

Cummins is seeking a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the availability and efficiency of our mechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure Equipment Availability: Troubleshoot, assemble, install, test, and maintain mechanical systems to keep equipment operational and efficient.
  • Promote Safety: Adhere to safety protocols and use appropriate personal protective equipment to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Enhance Quality: Apply high standards of workmanship and perform quality inspections to support equipment uptime and minimize cost and quality exposures.
  • Support Maintenance: Conduct preventive, emergency, corrective, and predictive maintenance activities to maintain equipment reliability and performance.
  • Foster Team Development: Instruct and coach less experienced team members to enhance team skills and knowledge, promoting a collaborative work environment.
  • Improve Processes: Identify and reduce manufacturing constraints, solve problems, and participate in continuous improvement activities to optimize production processes.
  • Maintain Cleanliness: Keep the work area clean and orderly, including routine housekeeping and machine cleaning tasks, to contribute to a safe and efficient workspace.
  • Engage in HSE Practices: Report hazards, comply with HSE standards, and participate in HSE training to ensure a healthy, safe, and environmentally responsible workplace.

Education and Experience

Cummins requires a high school diploma or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations. This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations. We prefer significant relevant work experience or specialized skills obtained through education, training, or on-the-job experience.

Additional Information

This role requires the candidate to possess either a NYS Journeyman Card or completion of 6400 hours of that journeyman program. Alternatively, the candidate must have 5-7 years' experience in the field. Must be comfortable working at heights. Knowledge of Fanuc Robotics and Atlas Copco Torque Equipment is beneficial. Focus for this role will be production coverage for ATF (primarily assembly) as well as project work. Weekends and OT are mandatory. Core work hours are 12:00PM to 8:00PM but can flex based on support needs.

Troubleshoots, assembles, installs, tests, and maintains mechanical systems using all necessary tools to keep equipment available and capable. Learns and understands the protocols of working safely with electricity and other energy sources with industrial equipment. May work independently and instruct or coach others.
