Job Overview

Position Summary

The Live Event Technician plays a crucial role in the preparation and management of technical equipment for various entertainment functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engages in a variety of tasks including the setup, operation, dismantling, inventory management, construction, and upkeep of diverse audio, lighting, staging, and musical apparatus utilized in entertainment venues and events.
  • Undertakes additional responsibilities as assigned by the department.

Core Competencies

  • Availability to work during holidays and weekends, along with flexible shifts and/or irregular hours.
  • Capability to perform under pressure in a dynamic environment with competing priorities.
  • Ability to lift and/or transport equipment, scenery, or supplies weighing up to 75 pounds.
  • Exposure to environmental factors associated with entertainment venues, including but not limited to secondhand smoke, high noise levels, and bustling surroundings.
  • Ability to ascend ladders or stairs.
  • Work at heights reaching up to 50 feet.
  • Handle scenery and supplies weighing up to 1500 pounds using pallet jacks, rolling carts, or forklifts.
  • Operate a scissor lift.
  • Remain seated, standing, or walking for the duration of a shift, as required.
  • Utilize electric motors, hydraulic systems, lighting control boards, sound mixing consoles, microphones, equalizers, and other technical equipment related to entertainment.
  • Employ hand tools such as electric saws, hammers, drills, screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, soldering irons, and wire strippers.
  • Work in proximity to loudspeakers, hazers, smoke machines, electrical systems, and paint.
  • Communicate effectively via telephone, radio, and headset intercom systems.
  • Bend and/or reach from ground level up to 6 feet high.
  • Push and/or pull scenery or carts weighing up to 200 pounds.
  • Crawl 5 to 10 feet to facilitate scenery setup.
  • Kneel to arrange scenery.

Qualifications

  • Proficient communication skills in English (reading, writing, speaking, and understanding).
  • A high school diploma or equivalent educational background is required.
  • Prior experience in the overall load-in, dismantling, inventory, and maintenance of various audio, lighting, musical, and staging equipment used in entertainment settings is essential.
