Heavy Vehicle Operator

This position entails overseeing the operations of both company-owned and leased heavy-duty vehicles and machinery. Key duties include maneuvering and relocating trucks and trailers, transporting materials to designated locations, preparing essential documentation for material delivery and collection, and delivering outstanding customer service. Furthermore, the role requires maintaining travel logs in accordance with federal and state regulations, securely loading and unloading materials, and performing routine inspections and preventive maintenance on the vehicles and equipment.
KEY FUNCTIONS:
The essential functions of this role include:
- Operating heavy-duty vehicles and machinery
- Conducting inspections of equipment, structures, and materials
- Performing regular inspections and preventive maintenance; reporting any defects or necessary repairs
- Ensuring a safe working environment by adhering to safety protocols
- Following company policies and safety procedures meticulously
- Understanding procedures for the disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous materials
- Safely decontaminating equipment
- Documenting information using software tools such as Microsoft Word and Excel
- Preparing and maintaining work records and reports
- Applying relevant safety policies and procedures
- Collaborating effectively with team members and supervisors

This role does not include supervisory responsibilities.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical requirements of this position involve various activities such as talking, hearing, standing, walking, bending, lifting/moving items, and exposure to varying temperatures and hazardous conditions. Specific vision abilities are also necessary for this role.
WORK SCHEDULE:
This is a full-time position with on-call availability and eligibility for overtime.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
Travel is anticipated, primarily local during business hours, with occasional out-of-area trips and overnight stays.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Valid state driver's license with Class A CDL endorsement
- Tanker and Haz-Mat endorsements preferred
- HAZWOPER certification preferred
- Minimum of 1 year of truck driving experience
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Familiarity with business principles, materials, methods, equipment, and tools
- Strong oral communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills
