Job Summary

The University of Virginia Police Department is seeking highly motivated and detail-oriented individuals to fill newly opened Security Officer positions. As a Security Officer, you will play a vital role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for the University community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patrol designated areas to identify and report security issues, and take appropriate action to resolve them.
  • Engage with the community through fair and impartial practices, and provide excellent customer service.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement officers to secure crime scenes and provide security services for special events.
  • Generate reports and conduct traffic control functions as needed.
  • Act as a campus security authority and a responsible employee under Title IX.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous work experience in security or a position dealing with the public.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to maintain a calm and balanced perspective, and successfully complete duties in a stressful situation.
