Job Title: Security Officer

The University of Virginia Police Department is seeking highly motivated and dedicated individuals to fill Security Officer positions. As a Security Officer, you will play a vital role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for the University community.

Responsibilities:
  • Patrol designated areas to identify and report security issues.
  • Engage with the community through fair and impartial practices.
  • Report suspicious and criminal activities to the appropriate authorities.
  • Generate reports and conduct traffic control functions as needed.
  • Assist law enforcement officers with securing crime scenes and providing security services for special events.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous work experience in security or a position dealing with the public.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain a calm and balanced perspective in stressful situations.
Benefits:
  • $25.00/hour base pay.
  • $1.50/hour night shift differential.
  • $2.00/hour medical center assignments.
  • Bonus of $5,000 within the first year of employment.
  • Comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, vision and dental insurance, life insurance, and more.
