Job Summary:

As a Weatherization Specialist with the Stanislaus County Department of Workforce Development, you will play a critical role in helping homeowners and residents in the area to reduce their energy consumption and costs. You will travel with your crew to residential homes, evaluating and installing energy-efficient measures to improve the comfort and efficiency of homes. Your work will involve performing a range of tasks, including installing energy-efficient lighting, replacing doors and windows, and sealing air leaks.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Install energy-efficient measures, such as LED lighting and smart thermostats, to reduce energy consumption.
  • Conduct home energy audits to identify areas for improvement and develop plans to address them.
  • Work with homeowners to identify and prioritize energy-saving opportunities.
  • Install and maintain energy-efficient appliances and equipment.
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure that all energy-efficient measures are installed correctly and efficiently.
  • Provide excellent customer service to homeowners and residents, ensuring that they are satisfied with the work performed.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest energy-efficient technologies and best practices.
Requirements:
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1+ year of experience in building industry carpentry, maintenance, mechanical, or a related field.
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Physical Demands:

The physical demands of this job include frequent driving, walking, climbing, crawling, pushing, pulling, reaching, sitting, and standing. The employee must be able to operate a pallet jack and lift objects up to 50 pounds. The employee must also be able to listen, understand, and communicate in writing and verbally.

Compensation:

The starting salary for this position is $20 per hour, with increments after each certification, up to a maximum of $23 per hour.
