About the Role

This is an entry-level position that offers a career path in maintaining and repairing underground distribution and transmission systems. As an Underground Distribution Groundperson, you will be responsible for performing new construction, maintenance, or repair work of energized and de-energized underground line work following company-established safety and health standards from the ground level.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform new construction, maintenance, or repair work of energized and de-energized underground line work following company-established safety and health standards from the ground level.
  • Ability to problem-solve with unidentified circumstances on any job.
  • Ensure daily testing and inspection of assigned tools and equipment.
  • Maintain company equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Excavate to assist in the installation of structures or cable as required by contract specification.
  • Will have contact with public and private property owners to professionally communicate work to be performed.
  • Participate in company training of all regional safety guidelines and perform all work by regional safety policies.
  • Operate various tools for the work (manual digging devices, wrenches, hammers, come-alongs, jack hammer, and hand-line, etc.).
  • All other duties as required or requested by supervisors.
  • Report all potential equipment and crew safety hazards to the foreperson.
Requirements
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Ability to follow directions, work safely and productively.
  • Problem-solving skills with unidentified circumstances on any job.
  • Identify, operate, and service all required tools and equipment.
