Job Summary

Covenant Health (Tennessee) is seeking a skilled Imaging Technologist II to join our team at Claiborne Medical Center. As a key member of our Radiology Diagnostic team, you will be responsible for producing high-quality X-ray images and supporting activities while maintaining safe radiation practices.

Responsibilities
  • Apply ALARA principles to minimize radiation exposure to patients, healthcare personnel, and the general public.
  • Collaborate with patients to ensure accurate documentation of clinical history and procedure information.
  • Receiving, relaying, and documenting verbal, written, and electronic orders in the patient's medical record.
  • Perform routine and difficult diagnostic imaging procedures using technical expertise of equipment and procedure protocols.
  • Assist licensed independent practitioners with interventional procedures, including time outs according to policy.
  • Complete and verify accurate informed consents, perform venipuncture, and start and maintain intravenous access as prescribed by a licensed independent practitioner.
  • Transport patients and assist in other areas of imaging as needed.
  • Practice aseptic technique and apply universal precautions at all times.
  • Apply appropriate infection prevention techniques and processes.
  • Assume responsibility for patient needs during procedures and proactively assist patients, families, licensed independent practitioners, and visitors as needed.
  • Apply the principle of patient safety during all aspects of radiographic procedures, including double IDs, falls, transport, and hand washing.
  • Proficient with all clerical duties, radiology information systems, and PACS.
  • Assist in the care of equipment, maintain supply levels, and clean the area.
  • May assist in the training and orientation of other staff, educate and monitor students and other healthcare providers when performing exams.
  • Assist Senior Technologist/Supervisor/Manager with reports and statistics as needed, assist in inventory control, and review and evaluate completed tests for quality, completeness, and type of test ordered.
  • Ensure quality images and demonstrate competency in critical skills, including addressing the age-specific needs of the patient population served.
  • Stay current in Basic Life Support (BLS) and perform BLS as needed.
  • Follow policies, procedures, and safety standards, complete required education assignments annually, and work toward achieving goals and objectives.
Qualifications
  • Must have successfully completed an educational program accredited by a mechanism acceptable to the ARRT.
  • Must be proficient in all fluoroscopy and specialized exams, including surgery within 6 months.
  • Must have and maintain ARRT (R) certification and state licensure in accordance with Tennessee guidelines.
