Job Overview

Capitol Debate Summer Camps is seeking experienced Public Speaking and Debate Coaches for our summer camps. As a Coach, you will be responsible for the overall success of curriculum delivery in the classroom, student learning, and motivation.

Responsibilities:
  • Guide and support the curriculum and lecture planning
  • Familiarize yourself with the Summer Debate Topic
  • Help students research, write their speeches and/or presentations, and provide feedback
  • Assist in judging student competitions and helping facilitate the student showcase
  • Run classes, deliver lectures, and support other Instructors and Camp Counselors
  • Judge practice debates, student presentations, and Camp Competitions
  • Extend your hours leading up to the competition(s)
  • Attend all staff meetings during the camp
  • Assist with first and last-day camp ceremonies and activities
  • Arrive one (1) day prior to the official start of camp
  • Assist with administrative or other matters during camp as requested by Camp Director

Requirements:
  • Minimum 2 Years of Classroom Experience in 6 to 12th grade School or College Level
  • Coached Competitive Public Speaking and Debate in one or more of the following competitive activities: Speech and Debate team, Forensics, Mock Trial Team, Model United Nations Team, or similar
  • Bachelors Degree Required
  • Masters Degree Preferred
  • The applicant must be fully vaccinated
  • Experience Working in youth-based programs preferred
